How the Discount Works
Our discount program operates differently than most. Rather than a flat percentage that applies to everything (and often still leaves you overpaying on certain items), we work with you directly to find the best available price on what you're actually trying to buy.
To get started:
- Contact us first. Email support@thegundock.com or call 502-272-4859 with the item you're interested in and your branch/department/service.
- Verify your status. We may ask for a copy of your military ID, badge number, department email, or equivalent. This is a brief, one-time process.
- We quote you a price. If we can beat or match what you've found elsewhere, we'll tell you. If our standard price is already competitive, we'll be upfront about that too.
For in-person purchases at our Paris, KY store, bring your service ID and we'll handle it face-to-face.
Why We Handle It This Way
The automated "sign up and get 10% off" programs run by many retailers often apply to already-inflated MSRP prices. The math works out to you paying more than you would at a dealer who just prices things honestly from the start. We'd rather just be straight with you about what we can do on a specific item.
We also work with law enforcement agencies and fire departments directly for departmental purchases — quantity orders, trade-in evaluations, or accessory packages. If you're purchasing on behalf of a department or agency, contact us through the same channel and let us know what you're working with.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to prove my service status to get the discount?
Yes, but it's not burdensome. A photo of your military ID, a department email address, or a badge number with agency name is typically sufficient. We don't share this information and only use it to verify eligibility. One-time verification applies to all future purchases.
Can I get the discount online, or only in store?
Both. Online, contact us before placing your order and we'll set up the appropriate pricing or apply a credit. In-store, bring your ID and we handle it at the register. Same-day transfers are available in-store in Paris, KY (subject to NICS background check clearance).
Does the discount apply to NFA items?
Yes. For silencers, SBRs, and other NFA items, contact us before purchase. NFA transfers take months regardless of where you buy, so getting the price right upfront matters. Law enforcement purchases that qualify for the LEO NFA exemption (certain agencies only) — let us know and we'll work through the correct paperwork.
I'm a veteran but not currently serving. Do I qualify?
Yes. Veterans with a DD-214 or other proof of honorable service qualify. We do not require active status. The discount is a thank-you, not a marketing metric.
What if I already placed an order at full price?
If your order was recently placed and hasn't shipped yet, contact us immediately at 502-272-4859. We'll see what we can do. We can't retroactively apply discounts to completed orders, but for recent orders we'll make a reasonable effort.
