We know this post exists. If you found your way here by searching for negative reviews of TheGunDock, we'd rather you read our response than wonder.
We've shipped thousands of orders. We've handled hundreds of thousands of dollars in transactions with verified buyers on GunBroker alone. The overwhelming majority of those experiences were exactly what they should be: smooth, fast, and professional. But we're not going to pretend that every single customer has walked away happy — no honest business would say that.
What we will do is address the most common complaint themes directly, tell you what actually happened in the cases we know about, and let the verified numbers speak for themselves.

Complaint #1: "My Order Was Cancelled After I Paid"
This is the complaint that shows up most on forums like r/gundeals and r/gundealsFU, and we understand why it's frustrating. Here's the reality of online firearms retail that most buyers don't see:
We operate as a licensed dealer that sources from a network of 15+ distributors. In an industry where inventory changes by the hour — especially on popular handguns during high-demand periods — an item that was in stock when you ordered can be gone before we place the pick ticket. When that happens, we don't charge your card and sit on it. We cancel and refund immediately.
Is that a perfect customer experience? No. But the alternative — charging you, sitting on your money for weeks while we "locate" the item, and stringing you along — is what the shady dealers do. We'd rather take the hit on the cancelled order than do that to you.
If your order was cancelled, you should have received an email explaining why and confirming your refund. If that didn't happen, call us. That's a process failure on our end and we want to know about it.
Complaint #2: "They Were Slow to Respond / Didn't Communicate"
We're a small team running a high-volume operation. During peak periods — after major news events, during sales, or when distributor pricing shifts cause a wave of orders — response times can lag. We're not going to lie about that.
What we've invested in: an automated order status system, email notifications at every stage, and a phone line that actually gets answered during business hours. If you emailed and didn't hear back within 48 business hours, something went wrong. Call us at 502-272-4859 directly — that gets resolved faster than a forum post every time.
Complaint #3: "The Price Changed After I Ordered"
Our pricing is pulled live from distributor feeds. In rare cases, a distributor updates their cost between when you saw the price and when we process the order. When that happens on a firearm subject to MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements, we are legally required to honor the manufacturer's minimum. We cannot sell below MAP even if we wanted to.
If your order was repriced without notice, that's something we handle case by case. Reach out — we don't hide behind policies when a real person has a real problem.
Complaint #4: "They Seemed Like a Scam"
We get why a small dealer in Paris, Kentucky with prices lower than major retailers raises eyebrows. Here's why our prices are what they are:
- We run a lean operation — no retail showroom overhead, no large staff, no expensive storefront
- Our pricing engine pulls live cost data from 15+ distributors and applies tight margins automatically
- We don't mark up to "cover returns" — we price to move volume
We are a federally licensed FFL dealer. Our license number is on file with the ATF. Every firearm transfer we facilitate goes through proper Form 4473 completion at a receiving FFL. If we were running a scam, we'd have been shut down long before we hit 33,000 GunBroker transactions.
What Verified Buyers Actually Say
GunBroker's feedback system is the most fraud-resistant review platform in the firearms industry. You cannot leave feedback without completing a transaction. You cannot buy fake GunBroker reviews. Each of our 33,000+ ratings represents a real buyer who paid, received their item, and chose to leave feedback.
Real feedback themes from our GunBroker buyers:
- "Shipped same day, arrived in perfect condition"
- "Lowest price I found anywhere online — no games"
- "FFL paperwork handled flawlessly"
- "Communication was great throughout"
- "Would absolutely buy from again"
Our Google Reviews tell the same story. 850+ people with real Google accounts, linked to real devices, took time to leave a review. The average sits near 5 stars. You can read them yourself at our reviews page or directly on Google.
On Reddit and Forum Posts Specifically
Forums like r/gundeals and r/gundealsFU serve a real purpose — holding dealers accountable. We respect that. What those forums can't account for is context: a cancelled order due to distributor stock-out looks the same as a scam to someone who doesn't know how the supply chain works. A slow email reply during a high-volume week looks like ghosting to someone who's never run a firearms dealership.
We don't ask you to take our word for it. We ask you to look at the 33,000 completed transactions sitting on our GunBroker profile and decide what's more representative of who we are: one thread, or thirty-three thousand verified sales.

If you had a bad experience with us, we want to hear it directly — not because we want to manage the narrative, but because we actually want to fix it. A business running on margins this thin can't afford to lose customers to problems that could have been resolved with a phone call.
We're a small Kentucky gun shop trying to do this right. That's the whole story.
