Partisan Fire Kit

Introducing the Partisan Fire Kit - a compact fire kit for all wilderness activities. Our approach to the fire kit is a bit different than others on the market, which comes from decades of experience in some of the most remote places on the planet.

The Partisan Fire Kit comes with two ignition sources – a Shield Arms branded BIC lighter (because if Daniel Boone had a BIC lighter, he would have carried it), and a high quality 3/8” x 4” ferrocerium rod (or ferro rod for short) that will throw hot sparks – up to 3,000° F – allowing you to start thousands of fires even if the conditions are windy, wet, cold, or snowy. We include a small packet of Fireplug tinder from Procamptek for use with either the lighter or the ferro rod.

Based on our experience with backcountry hunting in the mountains, we also include a few items not normally found in a fire kit.

First, we include a ceramic honing rod for quick in-field knife edge touch-ups. These ceramic rods are inexpensive, durable and reliable, and if cared for, will last practically forever. Need to process an entire bear or elk (or maybe even multiple)? No problem. Use the honing rod to touch up your knife edge as soon as you start to lose cutting power, and you’re good to go.

Second, we include two types of cordage: 12 feet of 550 paracord and 3 feet of Kevlar line. Paracord has a myriad of uses, including lashing/binding, boot lace replacement or repair, and shelter building. Kevlar line is extremely useful and can be used for emergency sawing and fire starting, as it is an effective tinder in an emergency.

All of this is packaged in our water-resistant pouch, with included Velcro loop on one side, and Squardron (500D/1000D Laminated) material PALS webbing on the other, giving you attachment options for existing bags and packs.
