Heritage Manufacturing was founded in 1992 by Jay Bernkrant and his wife, Maria Diaz, in Miami Lakes, Florida. The company made its name by producing affordable, Old West-style single-action revolvers, most notably the .22-caliber Rough Rider. In 2012, Heritage was acquired by Taurus International Manufacturing, which maintained the brand's distinct identity while expanding its production capabilities. Today, Heritage operates alongside Taurus, with its manufacturing and headquarters located in Bainbridge, Georgia.
