Founded in 1981 by Kamuran Aker, the company began after he immigrated to the United States with a background in leather goods manufacturing. Initially producing leather belts, the company expanded into western gear and eventually law enforcement duty gear, securing major contracts with agencies across California and the Southwest. Today, Aker Leather remains a family-owned business, manufacturing all of its products in the same Chula Vista, California factory where they made their very first holster.
