An SBR (Short-Barrel Rifle) is any rifle with a barrel under 16 inches or an overall length under 26 inches. SBRs are NFA-regulated under the National Firearms Act, which means a one-time $200 ATF tax stamp and an approved Form 4 transfer before you can take possession. Form 4 wait times have been running 30 to 90 days lately. Once approved, the SBR is yours forever and stays registered to you. Common SBR builds include AR-15 platform rifles in 5.56 NATO, 300 Blackout, and 7.62x39, plus Sig MCX/Rattler/MPX variants and Kriss Vector pistol-caliber carbines. The shorter barrel makes them more maneuverable in tight spaces (home defense, vehicle carry, dynamic shooting) at the cost of some velocity over a 16-inch barrel. Most SBRs in our catalog dropship from the manufacturer or distributor direct to your SOT dealer; only Class 3 dealers can receive NFA items.
